STERLING, VA, — May 21, 2015. As a legacy partner of the Department of Commerce (DOC) National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), SMRC is excited to announce its latest contract award providing Project Management Office and Engineering Management Services (POEMS) for the National Environmental Satellite, Data, and Information Service (NESDIS). Under this prime Small Business (SB) contract valued at $10.9M over five years, SMRC will manage all Program Management Office (PMO), Systems Engineering, and Technical Support requirements across NOAA locations in Suitland, Maryland; Wallops Virginia; Fairmont, West Virginia; and Fairbanks, Alaska.
Along with strategic partner, Washington Consulting, Inc.(WCI), our PMO will provide high-quality Program Office Support for the Environmental Satellite Processing and Distribution System (ESPDS); maintain PMO processes and products; and meet mission operational requirements for both Polar-orbiting Operational Environmental Satellites (POES) and Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellites (GOES) programs.
SMRC Engineers are responsible for formulating agreements between ESPDS and NOAA offices; maintaining a secure IT environment; and coordinating new work assignment implementation. Additionally, our team will utilize the Product Distribution and Access (PDA) system to fulfill Joint Polar System Satellite (JPSS) needs and develop product generation capability for NPOESS Data Exploitation (NDE) 2.0, Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP), and other research to operations satellite missions.
Over 15 years, SMRC has maintained a true NOAA partnership built on understanding of end users and their mission needs, systems, and processes. “We are excited for the continued opportunity to support NOAA’s unique blend of IT and science requirements, helping to achieve their overarching mission through the highest quality service and stewardship.” says CEO, Neelu Modali.
