William H. Hansen Joins SMRC as Senior Advisor Library Information Sciences



Lanham, Maryland April 4, 2011 – Mr. William H. Hansen has joined S M Resources Corporation as Senior Advisor, Library Information Sciences. Mr. Hansen will be working with SMRC in developing existing and new programs. His vast experience in the library sciences domain will be a remarkable addition to the SMRC catalog of experience.

Mr. Hansen is a member of the Kentucky State Advisory Council on Libraries and a founding director of the Kentucky Library Network, Inc. He is a former member of the Kentucky Virtual Library Advisory Committee and Past President of the Virtual Library Users' Group. Mr. Hansen was the Administrator of the Defense Digital Library Research Service (DDLRS) Project, a world-wide digital reference service on Army Knowledge On-line (AKO) from 2003-2009. He was also one of the Fort Knox leads for the development of the Battle Command Knowledge System (BCKS) Mounted ManeuverNet professional forum. He is a certified Knowledge Management Professional and served as active Chief Knowledge Officer for the Maneuver Center of Excellence at Fort Knox from 2008-2010.

Prior to his retirement in March 2011, his primary focus was the preparation of the Armor School Research Library collections for movement to their new home at Fort Benning, Georgia. This has included a major digitization project of historical documents, a thorough weeding of the book collection and extensive coordination with colleagues at Fort Benning and the Fort Knox Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) planning team.

He is a Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International and three times Past-president of the Radcliff Rotary Club. He has been a Boy Scout volunteer leader for over 25 years. He lives on a small farm in Breckinridge County, Kentucky where he and his wife Margaret raise beef cattle.

The SMRC team and customer base will be benefited tremendously by Mr. Hansen's deep knowledge and experience in the Libraries & Archives space.
